When I need to relax, my top three stress relievers are sleep, exercise, and the television.
The stress reliever I choose depends on the time of day.
If I wake up stressed out, I like to exercise. If I end my workday stressed out, I like to re-watch a television show or movie that can make me laugh. If I am still stressed out after dinner, I head to bed early and try to get in a few more hours of sleep.
Lately, I have been stressed out after my workday. Therefore, I have been turning to “Modern Family.”
If you are unfamiliar with the show, it revolves around three different types of modern families. There is a nuclear family with Claire and Phil Dunphy and their children Haley, Luke, and Alex. Then, there is a blended family with Gloria and Jay Pritchett and their children, Manny and Joe. Finally, there is a family with same-sex partners, Mitchell and Cameron Tucker-Pritchett and their daughter, Lily. Their lives individually and together are shown in a mockumentary style.
Overall, it is a light hearted show with many moments to make you laugh. It helps me to forget my troubles, even only temporarily. It never fails to make me laugh because every time I watch a episode, I notice a new joke, camera pan, or underhanded comment. It’s one of those shows where as you grow up and gain new experiences, you start to understand the less obvious jokes or commentary.
It ran for 11 season and has a total of 250 episodes. Each episode runs between 20 to 30 minutes. I would encourage to check it out because I do believe it has something for everyone regardless of your background.
What do you do or watch to unwind after a demanding day?
