Hi, my name is Naomi and welcome to Nostalgic Naomi!
This my first step in my blogging journey.
I think I have thought of this moment for years. Countless times, I told myself that I would start a blog and then find just enough reasons to not do it.
At the beginning of 2024, I decided that this year would be the year that I broke the cycle of excuses. Next, I thought “What am I genuinely passionate about enough to write a blog on?”
I am someone who has a revolving door of interests. I will be obsessed for a couple of months, and then one day, I will move on and think nothing of it. I want this time to be different and possibly make this blog a lifetime hobby.
Then I remembered reading somewhere that you should think back to your childhood and things that you loved to re-discover your passions. As children, we are fearless so do as we please and make no apologies. Then as we grow older, external influences, such as peer pressure, insecurities, and the pressure to be financial secure take us further from our passions and towards practical and safe choices. Sometimes, we discover new passions and then other times, we don’t.
So when I asked myself, ‘As a child, what did you love the most?’ my response was TV shows and movies. I didn’t just love watching them. I loved spending hours researching about the actors, directors, and overall production. I loved learning about a character’s illness or lifestyle. I loved analyzing a scene and sharing my observations with anyone who would listen. I even remember spending my first paycheck on a film festival so I could watch movies that wouldn’t be available at local movie theaters.
Once I had my “A-ha” moment, I started to record Tik-tok videos and now I am here to start my blogging journey, where I will be analyzing my favorite TV shows and movies. I hope you join me on this journey and share your thoughts as well.
Until then,
Naomi
